Recognised qualifications

Dance examinations

We offer a wide range of exams and assessments to motivate and reward students of all ages and abilities, with leading professional organisations including the IDTA, RAD, NATD, BBO and ISTD.

A positive structure for every dancer

The grades we study provide a positive structure where students can enjoy dancing while developing excellent technique and performance. Exams are offered, never required, and students can progress to the next grade at the teacher's discretion.

Qualifications are recognised by the QCF (Qualification and Credit Framework) and highly valued within the industry and by universities offering performing arts degrees. Vocational grade results also convert into UCAS points to support university applications for all courses.

How it works

From entry to exam day

Examination entry

The decision to enter a student is made at the teacher's discretion, with the approval of parents or carers. Time spent in class and ability level are the main factors, and some entries have age requirements. Exams are never a pre-requisite for advancement; students can move up a grade at the teacher's discretion.

Examination fees

Once a student is entered you will receive an invitation and an exam bill covering the exam fee, practice playlist, pianist/operator fee and exam classes. These additional classes are crucial for practising exam settings in the correct groups and finalising technique, so attending them is a priority once a student commits.

Examination day

Students wear the appropriate uniform for their grade with hair presented as advised. Please arrive ready 45 minutes before the exam time, as exams can occasionally run early. Staff are present throughout the day to support students and make the experience an enjoyable one.
